As the UN negotiates a Global Plastics Treaty, a resource is needed to monitor, evaluate, and provide contextual analysis on plastics legislation and implementation of the Treaty after it is agreed, as well as uplift tried and true policy solutions. The recently launched Global Plastic Laws database and resource center tracks local, national, and regional legislation addressing the full plastic life cycle around the world and provides analysis and commentary from local experts all around the world. The database features passed legislation, policy analysis, and policy news from around the world. The project is managed by Plastic Pollution Coalition, a U.S.-based organization with members in 75 countries. Core data partners include Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide, public interest attorneys, scientists, and advocates from 80+ countries; Break Free From Plastic Europe, with 110+ core members; and Surfrider Foundation (U.S.), with 170+ volunteer-led chapters. The event will showcase the new database and website, before moving into the panel discussion.
