About The Event

This roundtable session will complement negotiations for the international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution by facilitating awareness and information exchange on pathways to accelerate a transition towards reuse systems.

Convergence on and adoption of standard definitions and success metrics for reuse must constitute a core part of the negotiations, as fragmented measurement and target-setting approaches across industry sectors and jurisdictions would slow down widescale adoption of reuse. The roundtable will also serve as a starting point to catalyze multistakeholder collaboration on shared infrastructure and associated financing models that will enable reuse systems to scale.

The roundtable will discuss salient pathways to accelerate a systemic shift towards reuse models, with two key objectives:

  • Raise awareness on standardization of reuse definitions and measurement approaches.
  • Catalyze multistakeholder collaboration on reuse infrastructure and financing mechanisms.
